The directing by Don Siegel is always superb. Skills of actors are just impressive, especially John Wayne. In conclusion The Shootist is just absolutely awesome, that's why it is considered one of the 5 greatest movies of all time. I'm certain that The Shootist will continue to live for centuries. I can't stop thinking about The Shootist today, I certainly won't be able to concentrate at my job tomorrow.

The movie follows J.B. Books, an aging gunfighter diagnosed with cancer who comes to Nevada at the turn of the 20th century to spend his last days looking for a way to die with a minimum of pain and a maximum of dignity.
